GUESS HOW MUCH WEIGHT I’VE GAINED?

Today, I woke up at the crack of dawn. 8am!!! ME!!! 8am is the beginning of time. It’s true. Google it.

I’ve been off the Juice Cleanse and on a high animal protein diet for five days. It’s always been my experience that after a juice cleanse I gain half the weight back in the first few days. Remember, after three days of juice I dropped 6.4 pounds. I assumed I gained back at least three of it. I got on the scale and thought, “That can’t be right.” I stepped off, then back on it again. Yep, I was reading it right. I had lost another 0.6 pounds. Just over half a pound! WHY! HOW??  Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but the NEVER has happened to me before. Never!

As it stands now, I’m also eating as much as I wish. I feel full and satisfied after every meal and don’t feel like I’m denying myself anything in my food choices. There are two things that could be happening. One: My scale is broken. 2: Eating a whole foods diet helps keep the weight off.

Yes, I’m not eating dairy, or cereal grains. But I also haven’t had sugar or processed food in eight days. Maybe it’s the protein and low carbs. that’s keeping things at bay; or it’s because I’m not eating chips and cheese at 1:30am. It’ll be interesting to see if my weight goes up when I start introducing carbs during the Vegan diet. But as it stands now, I’m very happy with how I’m eating.

GAME CHANGER.

After finally waking up an a reasonable time and seeing that I’ve lost seven pounds in total on this journey. I had a quite a spring in my step as I headed to Crossfit atBlackfriars. I wasn’t particularly hungry this morning so I had a cup of coffee and a banana as I walked out the door. Today was a team workout and I paired up with my pal Kate Jones(the wonderful lady who introduced me to Crossfit). We climbed ropes, walked up walls backwards, and jumped over boxes until we were hot sweaty messes. I even carried Kate on my back while jogging. Though, she didn’t carry me. Because I don’t like being lifted under any circumstances. She had to carry a 20Kg weight. Which looked harder to be honest. GO KATE! Then went out for brunch and gossip. Again, it’s been so easy eating out on the Paleo Diet. I had two poached eggs on a portobello mushroom, with tomatoes and two slices of streaky bacon. 

As I said before my blender sucks. I need a better one. And I’m ready to invest in a nice one. So Kate and I walked over to Borough Kitchen and I took the plunge. I bought it. I bought the Cadillac of blenders. I got theVitamix. If you don’t know what a Vitamix is, all you need to know it’s now the reason I can’t afford a new iPhone. It’s a big purchase and the reason I spent most my afternoon in the store starting at it, thinking, “Go on, it’s you’re money. Buy it. You’re allowed to buy yourse
lf a blender. No, I need a timeout, this is over whelming I’m going to go stare at the spatulas for a 10 minute break.” Then I’d wonder back over to the Vitamix, and stare for another 20 minutes. Finally, with the help of the store staff and Kate I made up my mind to buy the behemoth. And that’s when the sales associate said, “Wonderful! Would you like it in red or black?” What? I have to decide on the color too? I know there’s a refugee crisis Europe, a war in Syria, and gun violence in America. But I need to go sit in a corner and thing about black orred. The choice is overwhelming. If this January Challenge has taught me anything, it’s that ALL of my problems are first world. All of them.

I finally buy a red one. Kate and I part ways and I head to Camden with my new toy. I’ve used it three times today and it’s a game changer. I love it. First I made a vegetable smoothie because that’s why I bought it, then I minced vegetables with it which is so much easier than using a cheese grater. Tom
came over for dinner and I made Turkey Veggie Meatloaf out of The PPC. I also planed to make Hassleback Sweet Potato w/Compound Herb Ghee, but then I realized how long it’d take to bake the potatoes so instead I boiled them made them into a mash and used the Compound Herb Ghee to season it. I also, sautéed some swiss chard. It was a feast. The Mealoaf was great and I’ll definitely make it again. Tom ate most of it. Then dessert! YES! I made dessert! I used my Vitamix to make vegan-paleo-sugar free ice cream! Because, though my Vitamix is fun I am not.

It was a great day and again my fridge is filled with fruit and veg so I can blend all day till my heart’s content.
